Document NEW Direct Debit Processing Fee - Effective 7th August 2013

Effective 7th August 2013 at 0001 hours Malaysian time (GMT+8), a Direct Debit Processing Fee will be applied to all direct debit payments made to new booking. The fee is charged per booking.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
 
1. What is Direct Debit Processing Fee?
Direct Debit Processing Fee is chargeable per booking (max 9 guests) when first payment transaction is made to a booking using direct debit facilities.
 
2. Why are you charging Direct Debit Processing Fee?
The Processing Fee is introduced to subsidize the process of upgrading, enhancing and improving security features for online credit, debit, and charge cards payments; in line with AirAsia’s continuous efforts to provide a comfortable and safe booking environment for all our guests.
 
3. Is the introduction of the Direct Debit Processing Fee across all of AirAsia’s airlines in the group?
Yes, it will be effective throughout all of our airlines including Thai AirAsia (Airline Code FD), Indonesia AirAsia (Airline Code QZ) & Malaysia AirAsia (Airline Code AK) as well as our low-cost long haul affiliate – AirAsia X (Airline Code D7) with a few exceptions.
 
4. Which bookings are not affected in this implementation and why?
Below is the list of bookings which are not affected in this implementation:
a) Philippines’ AirAsia (Airline Code PQ) & AirAsia Zest (Airline Code Z2).
b) AirAsia bookings departing from Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, Australia.
c) AirAsia X bookings departing from Australia, Korea, Saudi Arabia and Nepal.
These bookings are not affected due to local regulations.
 
5. What is the amount of the Direct Debit Processing Fee? And how will it be charged?
The Direct Debit Processing Fee is chargeable at RM4 per booking, with a maximum of 9 guests per booking number (PNR). The Processing Fee will only be charged during the first payment transaction of the said booking through the direct debit payment option.
E.g. You will be traveling as a group of 4 to Bali, you have finalized your booking and are ready to make your payment. Should you choose to pay via Direct Debit, you will be charged RM4 for this booking, which is for 4 guests. You will only be charged once, and should you decide to update your booking with further value-added services, such as Pick-A-Seat, Travel Insurance, etc for this same booking, there will be no further Direct Debit Processing Fee charges.
 
6. Are there any payment options in the AirAsia website that does not require any processing fee?
Yes. Guest can make payment by using BIG Visa card without processing fee. For more information about the BIG Visa card, please visit www.airasiabig.com  
 
7. Which payment options require processing fees?
Payment options through credit, debit & charge cards are subject to processing fees as well. They are charged at RM8 (for flights departing from Malaysia) per guest per way. Check out http://www.airasia.com/my/en/our-fares/fees-and-charges.page for the list of processing fees in respective currencies.
 
8. When did AirAsia start charging processing fees for payment options?
The processing fee was introduced in November 2009 to subsidize the process of upgrading, enhancing and improving security features for online credit, debit, and charge cards payments; in line with AirAsia’s continuous efforts to provide a comfortable and safe booking environment for all our guests.
 
9. I have decided to add further items into my booking after conducting payment, which includes the Direct Debit Processing Fee. Will I be further charged another RM4 for using the Direct Debit facility after I finish ‘Manage My Booking’?
No. The Processing Fee will only be charged once during the first payment transaction of the said booking through the direct debit payment option.
 
10. When will the fee be effective?
Direct Debit Processing Fee will be effective to all Direct Debit payment made from 7 August 2013, 00:01 hours (GMT+8).
 
11. Is Direct Debit Processing Fee refundable?
No. Direct Debit Processing Fee is non-refundable.
 
12. How much is the direct debit processing fee in other currencies?
