Document Changes to prebooked checked baggage and sports equipment fee on Saturday 31 August 2013

All international AirAsia (AK, FD, QZ, PQ, Z2, JW) and AirAsia X (D7) flights will no longer be offering the 15kg and 35kg checked baggage and sports equipment fee tiers effective 0001 hours (GMT+8) on Saturday 31 August 2013.
 
All AirAsia domestic flights will maintain the 15kg checked baggage tier, however, the 35kg tier for checked baggage & sports equipment fee will be removed.  AirAsia domestic flights includes flights within Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan (until 31 October 2013 for Japan).
 
This means that the available checked baggage & sports equipment fee tiers on
- International flights will be 20kg, 25kg, 30kg and 40kg
- Domestic flights will be 15kg, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg and 40kg
 
For our international guests, if you have booked your checked baggage and sports equipment fee for 15kg or 35kg before 31 August 2013, we will be giving you a free upgrade to 20kg and 40kg respectively!
 
1. Why are we revising the tiers of prebook baggage and sports equipment fee?
We are simplifying our checked baggage & sports equipment fee tiers.
 
2. When will this new revision be effective?
This revision will be effective on Saturday 31 August 2013 at 00:01 hours (GMT+8). This revision is applicable to new and existing bookings for travel from 31 August 2013 onwards.
 
3. How about Fly-Thru bookings? I’ve prebooked 15kg for my checked baggage from Penang to Sydney, what is my new prebook checked baggage weight?
You will receive a complimentary upgrade to 20kg on your checked baggage for both sectors.
 
4. What happens if I want to change my prebook checked baggage via Manage My Booking on 2nd September 2013 as an example?
If your prebook checked baggage was 15kg baggage prior to 31 August 2013 (0001 hrs GMT+8), when you log into Manage My Booking on 2 September 2013, you will see that your checked baggage weight has been upgraded to 20kg. If you want to upgrade to 40kg now, you will just need to pay the difference between 20kg and 40kg.
 
5. What will happen if I have prebooked 15kg or 35kg checked baggage & sports equipment fee?
Guests who have previously prebooked 15kg checked baggage and 15kg sports equipment fee on AirAsia international flights and AirAsia X flights will get a complimentary upgrade to 20kg for both your checked baggage and 20kg of sports equipment fee. If you have previously prebooked 35kg for both products, you will get a complimentary upgrade to 40kg.
 
6. I’ve previously prebooked 15kg checked baggage for my domestic flight, will I get a complimentary upgrade to 20kg with this checked baggage revision exercise?
No. This revision exercise for 15kg only applies to guest travelling on our International sectors.
 
7. I’ve previously prebooked 35kg checked baggage for my domestic flight, will I get a complimentary upgrade to 40kg with this checked baggage revision exercise?
Yes. Guest who has prebooked 35kg checked baggage on domestic flights will get a complimentary upgrade to 40kg.
