If I have a medical condition, or have recently had an operation, can I still fly?
We understand that unexpected situations arise involving illness or medical procedures.
Unless otherwise determined by us and except for flights to and/or from the United States, passengers with a medical condition/illness are required to produce a valid medical certificate confirming that the Passenger is fit for travel dated no more than 7 days before the date of travel.
Passengers on flights to/from the United States shall only be required to produce a valid medical certificate dated no more than 10 days before the date of travel with the following medical conditions/illnesses:
- A Passenger whose medical condition is such that there is reasonable doubt that the individual can complete the flight safely, without requiring extraordinary medical assistance during the flight; or
- A Passenger who has a communicable disease or condition that could be transmitted to the other Passengers in the cabin on the flight and that poses a direct threat (this includes: chicken pox, measles, mumps, rubella, tuberculosis and whooping cough) and the medical certificate must confirm that the communicable disease or condition is not infectious to the other Passengers in the cabin environment.
Please see this article for a list of medical conditions that do not require a medical certificate from doctor to enable you to fly:
If you do not wish to fly due to illness or medical procedures, we will allow you to cancel your flight if you are able to provide doctor's official letter stating that you are unable to fly. We will offer you the value of the fare you paid in a credit account for your future travel which must be utilized within three (3) months from the date of credit issuance. Please submit your case through our Feedback Form here. Note that a cancellation fee will apply.
If you still need more information, please contact us by writing in via our online feedback form, calling our call centers or chatting to one of our agents here.
