Surge of passenger numbers expected during Chinese New Year holiday period
Sepang, 23 January 2014
Guests advised to arrive at least 3 hours before scheduled time of departure
AirAsia would like to advise all guests travelling during the Chinese New Year holidays to be early for their flights, as a surge of passenger numbers is expected during this period.
It is highly recommended for guests to be at the airport at least 3 hours prior to their respective flights and clear all travel formalities at their earliest convenience, to avoid missing flights due to congestion.
AirAsia guests are advised to utilize web check-in and mobile check-in services, which are available 14 days before their flight’s scheduled departure and up to 60 minutes prior.
Guests travelling via the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang and with baggage to check-in are also advised to arrive as early as possible and perform Self-Tagging, to cut down on queuing time.
Self-tagging kiosks are available at the LCCT for all AirAsia flights, conveniently located at the self check-in kiosk area. Self-tagging is available up to 1 hour before scheduled departure.
Guests may then proceed for Baggage Drop and to their respective departure gates. Baggage drop counters are open 3 hours before scheduled departure for international flights, and 2 hours before scheduled departure for domestic flights.
Guests travelling without check-in baggage may proceed directly to the Document Check Counters to verify their travel documents and enter the departure gates.
In addition, the security scanning, baggage clearance and immigration checkpoints will also be congested, so guests are also advised not to delay their movement to ensure reaching the departure gates on time.
It is also recommended for guests to pre-book their onboard meals, as increased demand may result in insufficient stock on the aircraft for on-the-spot purchase. Pre-booking ensures that meals are served and is available at any time after making a flight booking and up to 24 hours before scheduled departure time.
We also would like to suggest the purchase of baggage weight allocations in advance, to skip potential long queues at the airport's baggage payment counter during this busy period.
For guests planning to travel during the Chinese New Year period, additional flights are still available for travel from 28 January-5 February 2014 to destinations such as from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, Penang to Kuching or Johor Bahru and Kuching to Singapore.
Also available are additional flights from Kuala Lumpur-Sibu, available for immediate booking for the travel period from 29 January-2 February 2014.
AirAsia would like to wish everyone a very happy Chinese New Year and pleasant journey.
