Travel Advisory: Kiosk check-in discontinued at klia2 from 22 June 2014 onwards

Sepang, 21 June 2014

AirAsia would like to inform all guests that the airline’s kiosk check-in services at klia2 will be discontinued from 1000hrs (GMT+8) of Sunday, 22 June 2014 onwards.

AirAsia’s decision to cease its kiosk check-in services is due to the incompatibility of the airline’s in-house check-in system with the current system applied by the airport operator at klia2.

AirAsia’s check-in system, used throughout all other airports where the airline operates except at klia2, is integrated with the INTERPOL’s I-Checkit System, where passports are screened against the world police body’s Stolen and Lost Travel Documents (SLTD) base.

Due to the system incompatibility, AirAsia is unable to provide the same travel protection via kiosk check-in to all our guests departing from klia2, and this will compromise the safety and security standards that the airline has implemented through the integration of its system with the INTERPOL I-Checkit system.

Due to the discontinuation of kiosk check-in at klia2, guests are advised to utilize Self Check-In via Web or Mobile, with security and safety maintained as the INTERPOL I-Checkit System is integrated with these check-in options.

The Web and Mobile Self Check-In is available from 14 days and up to 1 hour prior to departure for all AirAsia flights, and up to 4 hours prior to departure for AirAsia X flights.

Guests must ensure to select the option to either receive their boarding pass via email or the mobile QR code in their smartphone during web check-in.

It is highly recommended for guests to print out their boarding passes before arriving at klia2, to ease their travel process.

An RM10 fee is chargeable for guests who opt for manual check-in at the airport counter for domestic flights, instead of using Self Check-In via Web or Mobile.

Guests are also advised to arrive early at klia2 for their flights and to clear all travel formalities. Baggage drop counters at klia2 opens 3 (three) hours before scheduled time of departure, and closes 1 (one) hour before scheduled time of departure for all international and domestic flights.
