Travel to Tiruchirappalli
Tiruchirappalli, or Trichy for short, is a city of rich traditions, culture and history. Situated strategically on the banks of the Kaveri River, it is a commercially thriving city that functions as the central hub for industrial and educational industries in Tamil Nadu. Although consumed with progress, it is nevertheless a fascinating destination with more than 2,500 years’ worth of traditions and history that are apparent in the Ucchi Pillayar Rock Fort Temple (part of a 3.8 billion-year old rock), the seven-walled complex of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple that houses 50 shrines, and the Jambukeswarar Temple where you can meet the sacred elephant Agira. Once done going around the city, be sure to stop by Chinna Kadai street near the Rock Fort Temple to shop for traditional jewellery, silk sarees and stainless-steel household products, or even grab a snack. For the modern day-to-day shopping, you can head over to malls like Mangalam Towers, Femina Shopping Mall and Manasarovar Mall for some retail therapy. A trip to Trichy isn't complete until you've sampled its titillating local dishes of South Indian cuisine like the Banana Leaf Rice, Chettinad food, and unbelievably delicious vegetarian food.
