What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? I was drawn in by the challenge of the assignment and I wanted to contribute towards the dream of seeing a Malaysian company making a firm mark in the global stage.
What was your initial impression when you started? I found it to be a fun place to work, where people are very open to new ideas.
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? AirAsia has a very dynamic work environment. For me, the challenge of building both a relevant and profitable business unit constantly has me looking for new opportunities.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? Last June, UK based Air Cargo Week thrilled my team and I by presenting AirAsia with the Air Cargo Industry Newcomer of the Year Award for 2010. We became the first low-cost airline to win this award.
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? My colleagues are always open to new ideas and as a result are a pleasure to work with. Tony is funny sometimes!
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? Without a doubt. Since joining, I really feel that I have grown horizontally in my skill set – both in breadth and depth as a person.
What is your advice to new hires? I would advise them to be flexible with their ideas and be relevant when it comes to executing them. AirAsia has a very open and dynamic culture – embrace it.

Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? Overall, AirAsia's employees and culture create a very enjoyable work environment. As for Dato' Tony, he is a man both of vision and humility.
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? Yes! AirAsia is like an open university. The management recognised my potential to be an Investigator in the Internal Audit unit and encouraged me to go further my studies at University Malaya. They really care about helping you reach your potential.

What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? Coming from an audit background, AirAsia provided me with an opportunity to do something completely new and foreign to me – Network Planning and Management. It was the challenge and AirAsia's confidence in me that drove me to take the position.
What was your initial impression when you started? The environment at the office is very laid back and relaxed; all the while, people are still able to work hard and get the job done. This ability to balance both work styles was very eye-opening for me.
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? It's definitely the opportunity to travel, meet new people and network with my colleagues from all over Asia.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? I have only been with AirAsia for 3 months, but I am still very excited to have been given the opportunity to work as an Analyst with such a great organisation.
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? As I mentioned earlier, my co-workers are very laid back and friendly. So yeah! It is a great place to work. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to deal with Tony or hear him speak yet, so I can't comment on his humour.
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? Since I have only been here for 3 months, I can't say that it has yet. However, great opportunities to develop continue to present themselves here at AirAsia, and that gives me the confidence that it will.
What is your advice to new hires? You will have to work hard, but hop on the wagon – you won't regret it.

What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? I joined AirAsia by chance in 2002 after my father passed away as I needed to be closer to home.
What was your initial impression when you started? When I joined AirAsia it was a small set up with only 2 planes and most things were done manually. What I really liked about it was its culture. There was no corporate red tape, and all of my bosses were very approachable.
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? The view.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? My latest promotion, it has taken me to great heights ... literally.
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? My colleagues are an amazing bunch. Tony Fernandes is definitely funny. He never fails to humour us every now and then; be it at staff meetings, annual dinners, or most recently with his stewardess dress up bet. Thank goodness he won the bet, because everyone is anxiously looking forward to it.
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? I started working in the customer service department and later moved to the purchasing department. Then AirAsia offered its first cadetship program and I was given an opportunity to join. I've been flying for almost six years now and was recently promoted to a Captain. AirAsia has certainly provided an excellent avenue for my career progression.

What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? I visited the AirAsia office in early 2009 as a member of the media and was immediately enticed to join. The open concept, the exuberance and excitement that I saw from the staff that I met while touring the office was very enticing. It also helped that I had a friend who already was working with AirAsia who provided me with further insights on what it was like to work for the innovative airline.
What was your initial impression when you started? I initially joined on the Social Media Team, and had a great time while I was there. My teammates treated 'newbies' like me very well. They made sure I had carpool mates and lunch buddies, which helped me adapt quickly to the culture. Moving on to the Communications team was a very easy transition to make. My teammates are like family now. Things are hectic here, but it comes with a lot of fun too.
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? Travelling! Being with AirAsia has allowed me to go places that I've always dreamed of – and for work! Also, I have been able to meet and work with media from all over the world.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? Again, I would say the opportunity to visit places that I have always dreamed of. For example, a dream since my teenage years was to visit India, and I finally got the chance to with AirAsia. There are many other places too.
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? Yes, I like my colleagues very much. However, they are not just my colleagues – they are my friends! As for Tony, why don't you come find out yourself?! Haha.

What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? The brand AirAsia is recognised worldwide. I saw its potential for growth and I wanted to be a part of it.
What was your initial impression when you started? When I started, I thought that nobody liked going to work because they were wearing casual clothes, unlike most big companies. It was quite odd for me at first, but then I adapted to the relaxed culture.
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? I like to call ourselves in customer care "small lawyers" since we do not have the certification. I say this because we help resolve complaint cases from guests and other departments who can't handle it. We are all very proud of the work we do.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? We got to meet some very famous artists, whom we never would have had the chance to meet otherwise. Awesome man!
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? Of course I like my colleagues. We are very close to each other and everyone on the team is very open and supportive. Our department organises a trip from time to time that really helps us grow as a team. Additionally, we have a weekly theme in the Customer Care Centre that all the other departments get excited about too! Tony ... oh, I can tell you about him! Tony is a totally down to earth person. I respect and salute men like him. Too bad he isn't still single!
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? Yes, and I am glad to have been recently promoted. I would like to thank my boss Mr. Frank Bateman for believing in me.
What is your advice to new hires? Be yourself and give yourself the opportunity to learn as much as you can in this big organisation. There is a lot of room for personal development and growth.

What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? Location, location, location. I used to work in KL but I hate the traffic jams.
What was your initial impression when you started? I was amazed at the speed of the changes and growth in the industry. When I first joined AirAsia as a Flight Operation Assistant we only had 5 aircrafts, but we were told next week AirAsia was receiving 1 more, and 2 more by the end of the month. I thought WOW!
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? The daily challenges. As a fast growing company, we improvise a lot and out-of-the-box thinking needs to be applied in all of my tasks.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? I have been able to travel places I never thought I'd be able to.
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? I work with the best team ever. As for Tony, he is funny, witty, and gives off amazing energy that inspires us.
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? I started as a Flight Operations Assistant before being promoted to Flight Ops Executive in less than a year. After which, I was promoted again to the Administrator to Regional Head of Cargo before being promoted once more to my current position. So definitely, yes, it has. Most importantly however, I have developed more wholly as a person.

What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? I loved the red uniform colour. When I first joined AirAsia about 5 years ago, I always believed that I was destined to be here – and it happened!
What was your initial impression when you started? It was really tough at first. Back then, things were more challenging, as there were fewer flights, no large planes and AirAsia did not enjoy the strong reputation it does today. Nevertheless, it was the right choice to for me to continue with the company.
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? I always feel great whenever I can accomplish our company's Key Progress Indicators. Representing AirAsia when we are awarded has always been the greatest thing for me.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? When I was promoted to Sales Manager, I started as a Guest Service Assistant at the Kuching Station. After which, I was transferred to the Sales Department in LCC, this became a long and challenging journey for me because it was a totally different job. However, it has turned into the best reward AirAsia could have ever given me. As our CEO Tony says, believe in the unbelievable.
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? I don't just like them – I adore them. Tony for me is a very inspiring and determined person. He has his own personal way of expressing himself both in the office and at public functions. He has that ability to walk up to you and ask "How are you today?" with a big, welcoming smile on his face.
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? Yup, AirAsia really did. Thanks to AirAsia, I hold a managerial position now, proving that AirAsia is a place for career advancement if you want it. However, one must be ready for the obstacles and challenges that lie ahead.

What made you choose to work at AirAsia in the first place? I chose AirAsia because it has a friendly working environment and is also a great opportunity to work in the amazing aviation industry.
What was your initial impression when you started? I was impressed with the creatively designed office layout and friendly working environment. Even more however, I was happily surprised to find the staff at AirAsia are allowed to dress in casual wear during office hours, which is commonly restricted in most large companies.
What is the most exciting part about your job at AirAsia? I think the most exciting part about my job are also the most challenging parts. For example taking minutes during our monthly safety meetings where all the issues discussed are so technical that I can barely understand. Besides that, another interesting experience was my opportunity to see how the pilot and flight attendants perform the practical drills designed by my department colleagues.
What is the best thing to ever happen to you at AirAsia? The last two years running, I won a phone during our annual AirAsia dinner. I was incredibly lucky, because the first phone I won broke 2 days before the next dinner. I also have had the chance to met celebrities like Richard Branson and the Lotus Racing driver.
Do you like your colleagues? Is Tony Fernandes really that funny? Oh yes. They are caring, fun, helpful and I have certainly learnt a lot from them. Tony is equally as fun and friendly. I don't think you can find another CEO like him.
So, has AirAsia really helped your career progression? How? The courses that I have attended really help me to perform my job tasks and enhance my knowledge.
