Johor Bahru is the capital of Johor, the Southern most state of Malaysia. Commonly referred to as JB, Johor Bahru is the second largest city of the country. This city was founded in 1855 and was originally named Tanjung Puteri. It was later renamed Johor Bahru by Sultan Abu Bakar, one of the most famous Sultans of Johor. In 1994, Johor Bahru was granted city status and Dato Hashim Yahya was the first mayor of the city.
