Situated 500 kilometer away from Kota Kinabalu, Tawau is located on the Southeastern coast of Sabah. Tawau is the third largest town in the state of Sabah and its residency includes the provinces of Semporna, Merotai, Lahad Datu, Kunak, and Kalabakan.
The warm climate in the region, in addition to Tawau’s rich, fertile soil makes this place conducive for cocoa plantation. Tawau is in fact, the world’s third largest producer of cocoa bean. Step off the plane and you will be greeted by the sweet aroma of fresh cocoa. Cocoa production is so important to Tawau that there is actually an annual Cocoa Festival to honour this natural resource that contributes to Tawau’s development and growth.
