    Grande Centre Point Hotel Ploenchit

In a city like Bangkok, it pays to stay in a hotel in the heart of the action. My base for a recent Bangkok weekend was the Grande Centre Point Hotel Ploenchit, a newly-refurbished 31-storey hotel along tree-lined Wireless Road. In a city that never sleeps, location is everything. I was fortunate the hotel was situated in upmarket Ploenchit and close to the main shopping and entertainment hubs of Siam Square, Ratchaprasong, Sukhumvit and Silom.

    The Landmark Bangkok

Some 27 years ago, this was one of the first hotels to open on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok, just metres away from Nana BTS Station. Perhaps the owners foresaw the future by naming it The Landmark Bangkok because this property is truly a landmark in the city, not only because of its location, but also because of its enduring legacy and endearing charm.

This brand new hotel in Sukhumvit is just what you need if your main goal of visiting Bangkok is to shop, sight-see, dine and party. A medium-sized offering with 68 rooms, the hotel is ideally located on Soi 2, a mere 100 metres or so from the main thoroughfare and Phloenchit BTS station. This shields you from the hustle and bustle of the city while keeping you a stone’s throw from the blindingly bright lights of the attractions.

    My Own Eden

There’s something wonderfully decadent about holidaying on a private island, and you’ll certainly be spoiled rotten when you visit Vivanta by Taj, Rebak Island Langkawi – the only resort on this beautiful island. Just about seven minutes by speedboat from Port Cenang on the main island of Langkawi, Rebak Island is a lush 390 acre paradise cupped by the warm Andaman Sea, with a coastline of secluded beaches and stunning rock formations, and a verdant forest that’s millions of years old.

    Romance Unplugged

The horizon appeared hazy as the boat left Terengganu’s Merang Jetty. Halfway through the 45-minute ride, the island of Lang Tengah came into view. Around a rocky bend emerged Sari Pacifica Lang Tengah Resort & Spa’s private jetty, with wooden planks stretching out into turquoise waters so clear that I could see the fish below. Few sights are more welcoming than swaying palms on a white beach, and Lang Tengah instantly had me in a picture-perfect embrace.

    Lanta Hideaway

Half the fun of island vacations is in getting there. I expected a fair bit of travelling to Koh Lanta, the locale of my weekend hideaway – the Rawi Warin Resort & Spa – but I took on the challenge believing the journey to be part of the adventure.

    Tranquility With A Beat

When I arrived at this new resort located along Karon Beach in Phuket, it was only 13 days old but already in top shape. Fresh from a revamp, the luxury resort is a stunning property, which extends the well-known Novotel brand to the west coast of Phuket. I checked into a spacious and well-appointed Plunge Pool Suite and immediately dozed off on the king-sized bed.
