There’s something wonderfully decadent about holidaying on a private island, and you’ll certainly be spoiled rotten when you visit Vivanta by Taj, Rebak Island Langkawi – the only resort on this beautiful island. The horizon appeared hazy as the boat left Terengganu’s Merang Jetty. Halfway through the 45-minute ride, the island of Lang Tengah came into view. Around a rocky bend emerged Sari Pacifica Lang Tengah Resort & Spa’s private jetty, with wooden planks stretching out into turquoise waters so clear that I could see the fish below. Few sights are more welcoming than swaying palms on a white beach, and Lang Tengah instantly had me in a picture-perfect embrace.

When I arrived at this new resort located along Karon Beach in Phuket, it was only 13 days old but already in top shape. Fresh from a revamp, the luxury resort is a stunning property, which extends the well-known Novotel brand to the west coast of Phuket. I checked into a spacious and well-appointed Plunge Pool Suite and immediately dozed off on the king-sized bed.
