The 14-year-old Daim Hishammudin and his champion trophy

His victory at the Sepang Kart Circuit earned Daim the ticket to the Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Grand Finals in Portugal at the end of November, where he will be the only Singaporean among the winners of all the RMC championships around the world as they gather to compete.

Daim is the first and only Singaporean on the AirAsia Caterham Driver Development Programme by the Caterham Formula 1 team.

The race started with an incident but Daim managed to work his way to the front

“Finally! I finally won a race this season after all the mechanical issues and on-track incidents encountered throughout the year. I feel good that this race victory also led to the securing of the overall championship title, but at the same time it still hasn’t sunk in completely. Qualifying was horrible when we decided to go out first on wet tyres on a drying track, but I kept a positive mindset and didn’t let that affect me, and just focused on getting to the front. This season wasn’t an easy one and while we have made mistakes, we have also recovered and learnt from them. This title is for all who have been supporting me – my team, family, friends, fellow drivers, and sponsors AirAsia, BHPetrol and Hublot. This is for you guys!” said Daim.
