They say that food makes the world go round, and for me, starting the day healthy makes my world go round. I need the right amount of nutrients and energy to kickstart the day right, and I am glad the AirAsia X Big Breakfast Meal did just that.
My first impression was “wow, this is big”. It was a complete set with mains of a large cheese omelette, and chicken sausage, sides of baked beans, sautéed button mushrooms and hash browns, alongside a soft bun with butter, orange juice, coffee / tea and strawberry yoghurt. The heavenly smells of a classic breakfast wafted into my nostrils. If only I could bottle that!
I believe it’s always good to start with the yoghurt first before proceeding with breakfast, as the active cultures improve the digestive and immune systems. That the SunGlo strawberry yoghurt is fruity and served chilled are definite pluses for me.
The soft bun got my appetite going and the orange juice prepped me for the main event: the cheese omelette, which was fluffy with lots of layers. I’m glad that cheese was part of the omelette, so no extra pepper and salt are required (though there are small packets of them just in case). It is always a delicate balance when it comes to omelettes, as it’s got to be heated just perfectly so that the external layer isn’t overcooked and the insides are deliciously warm and savoury – and this one is just perfect! Of course, onboard, the position of my seat is important when it comes to being served first so that the meal stays warm. Therefore, I always opt to Pick A Seat either in the quiet zone in front or at the back.
The sides are great complements to the cheese omelette and sausage. I was just amazed at how the beans, mushrooms and hash brown fit into the tin.
Washing it all down with some hot tea (you can choose coffee as well), I was thoroughly satisfied. All in all, it was a good filling, protein-dense breakfast to enjoy 35,000 feet up in the air. Now, that’s the way to start the day big, start the day right!
