Most parents would agree that the last thing you want to deal with when travelling is a hungry, cranky child. With this new Kid’s Meal, I had a feeling my son Larry would be more than happy to be on board! How can you go wrong with macaroni and cheese, chicken meatballs, broccoli, Ribena, and Kit Kat? Even better, I can purchase an exclusive Transformers toy onboard for RM14 to go with this pre-booked Kid’s Meal. Oh how my kids would love this!

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the meal as I had expected kids’ meals on airplanes to be usually bland. The aroma was enticing, the smell of melted cheese always gets my hunger going, and the portion size seemed just about right for filling little bellies. The macaroni itself was soft and the sauce was gooey, they went well with the meatballs and broccoli.

‘’It’s nice!’’ remarked our little expert, Larry

The combination of carbs in the pasta and protein in the meatballs and sauce will surely keep kids satisfied long after they’re finished. Plus there’s nothing better than a new toy (especially when it’s from a newly released movie) to keep the little ones occupied, something which is always a challenge when travelling.

Let me tell you a little secret. Believe it or not, I used to hate vegetables when I was a kid. That all changed during university when I became an athlete. My then-coach used to be really strict with our diets, and I’ve developed a love for vegetables ever since. Keeping fit is very important to me, so I always look at the ingredients and nutrient content of whatever that I eat.

Presentation-wise, I think the Vegetable Pasta is pretty good as it has a variety of colours thanks to the fusilli pasta, green zucchini, red bell pepper, brinjal, cherry tomato, black olive, and my most favourite vegetable of all, broccoli! The pasta has a distinct flavour of mild chilli, garlic, basil, and a hint of parmesan cheese, while the vegetables are nicely cooked, and they all complement each other.

I also like the light dash of olive oil as it helps to retain moisture of the meal, which is important when it is being served more than 30,000 feet up in the skies. Overall, the pasta is in good proportion with the vegetables, and it replenishes the calories you burn whilst navigating klia2’s long walkways. :)

I don’t have a particularly sweet tooth and have never really had much of an affair with chocolate. Given I’ve never been into “sweet things” (as my grandfather fondly called anything that was typically served after dinner!), it may be surprising to some that I have a bit of an affection and love for a decent chocolate brownie!

The best brownies are incredibly difficult to find however, so I was quite surprised by the Chocolate Brownie accompanied by a cup of frothy T&CO Teh Tarik. The brownie itself was moist and tender; the small pieces of chocolate that were gently baked melted inside my mouth.

AirAsia’s brownie is up there amongst the best in my view and I’d recommend wholeheartedly when you need a bit of an energy or sugar boost on your next AirAsia flight!  I partnered the brownie with T&CO Teh Tarik, but it will go equally well with T&CO coffee, tea or chocolate drink options!  Enjoy…I certainly did!
