He’s broken barriers, exceeded expectations, and made the nation (and us!) proud! Zulfahmi Khairuddin is living proof that dreams do come true.
The percentage of riders from the region making it professionally in MotoGP may be small, but it didn’t stop the young Banting native from dreaming big. He was off to a great start by finishing 20th during his debut race at the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix through the AirAsia Malaysia Wildcard Program. Growing leaps and bounds since then, he became the first Malaysian rider to qualify in pole position and made it to the podium twice in 2012 – all at the tender age of 21. Ending his 2012 season with 128 points which earned him 7th place in the world-class race (a position never been achieved by an ASEAN rider before), we knew that there is no limit to dreaming the impossible.
Riding off to the brand new 2013 season at the Grand Prix of Qatar, Fahmi will be riding with the Red Bull KTM Ajo riders Luis Salom of Spain and Arthur Sissis of Australia in the Moto3 category. Even though it was his strong drive and persistence to follow his dream that brought to where he is right now, he is also blessed with the undying support he has received from fans and sponsors. Let’s continue to lend our support to the young rider! Go Fahmi! Together, let’s take 2013 by storm!
