Attacking midfielder Esteban Granero, also known as “El Pirata”, talks to Travel 3Sixty about what he has been up to since his transfer to Queens Park Rangers last year.
You joined the club in August 2012, do you feel you that you have settled well into the team?
I have settled very well because everyone at the club has been very helpful, and my team-mates were all very kind to me. It is easy to adapt to life in London, so everything was perfect for me. This season has been hard but it is not over yet. We have a big challenge ahead.
How does it feel to play in the Premier League compared to the Spanish League?
It is more dramatic — football here in England. It is more physical and the environment is different; there is more passion in the stadiums. I believe they are the best two leagues in the world and I am happy to have played in both.
What do you think of London, how does it differ from your home country Spain?
I was born in Madrid so I love Madrid. I spent my life there. London is like a dream. There are so many things to do that you can never get bored here. It is a big city for culture too, with so many places to visit. I enjoy it here a lot.
Can you remember the first pair of football boots you ever bought?
Yes, of course! My brother Pedro came to England one summer to work and he came back with a pair of boots for me, they were the latest Adidas ones. It was like a dream, I think this is the best gift I have ever been given. I was only six at the time.
Describe your ideal holiday.
I would love to do a train trip all over the place, across Europe perhaps. I would go from one place to the next. But I would also love to travel to Asia too!
