The best Char Kueh Teow in Penang has to be in Lorong Selamat. Make sure you order the medium size one, and tone down on the chili as it can get really spicy.

    Looking for a tranquil rice paddy field getaway nearby KL?? One would automatically thought of sekinchan town, no doubt there’s pretty vast fields there but unfortunately dotted with cement-build swallow house which is an eye-sore. The real better deal lies next door at the malay kampungs at the different parits if you drive further away from the main sekinchan town. Ask the locals and they can direct you.

    I’m going to give tips at famous Kuala Perlis Jetty if you’re going to reach Langkawi Island by sea. If you want to leave your car for days (because you’re going to take the ferry), no need to worry to find suitable and nearest parking lot; or maybe you’re afraid if your car might be stolen. Because when you’re about to reach Kuala Perlis Jetty, you will notice that a man on a motorbike will follow your car from side. Actually that man (actually many of them, not one) is going to offer you a safe paid parking lot near the jetty. For your info, the parking price is assumed as one day even though you come late at 6 p.m. So make sure you arrive early at the jetty if you don’t want to loss. Besides that, if someone is trying to offer you a car rental, don’t rush into this because usually at Kuala Perlis Jetty they will offer you higher price. The 2nd reason is because when you reach Kuala Kuah Jetty, there will be many men asking you for car rental and it is actually your time to choose the cheapest car rental and make sure to check the car condition first before you pay. Because based on our experience, my father accepted the car rental offer by a man at Kuala Perlis Jetty because he afraid if there will be hard to find car when arriving Langkawi. In consequence, we got higher price and bad car condition. For instance, the lighter plug wasn’t functioning so we can’t charge our portable GPS. The radio, car lock system, honk and lamp also didn’t function well and when my father asked for another car as a replacement, the car hirer said that there’s no car anymore at the time. So, kindly use my useful tips there.

    Make sure that you’ll be having your holiday in Langkawi at least for three days or else, you might be subjected to duty by the custom officers at Kuala Kuah Jetty when you’re going to leave the island. So, as proof to be shown to the custom officers, you must keep your ferry ticket from Kuala Perlis until your last day there. Never throw it into the sea. If you’re not going to stay for three days, you must show the custom officers all stuffs that you’ve bought to avoid duty.

    Before you say goodbye to Langkawi, you should at least have a short visit to Eagle Square which is just 5-minute-walk from Kuala Kuah Jetty because Eagle Square Malaysia only exists in Langkawi Island so if you snap your picture there as a memory, none of your friends can deny the fact that you have had been in the famous Langkawi Island !

    Langkawi Island is very famous with its duty–free so grab this chance to shop especially kitchen utensils, bags, chocolates and alcohol drinks (If you’re not Muslim). It is your chance to buy varieties of chocolates such as Daim and
    Hershey’s from overseas because many of them are hardly found in other states of Malaysia. The duty – free shops are almost everywhere especially in Kuah. The famous one is Haji Ismail Group. Haji Ismail Group (the buildings are green so remember green) also has many branches in Kuah so no need to worry, for sure you’ll spot them. If you forget or don’t have time to shop at famous Haji Ismail Group until your last day in Langkawi, don’t worry because it also has its branch at Kuala Kuah Jetty and the price just same with its other branches. But be careful because not all stuffs in Langkawi are cheaper. For instance, the price for gadget same like in other states. If you want to buy kain batik, clothes, cucumber oil and souvenirs, go shopping at Burnt Rice at Padang Mat Sirat because the price offered is cheaper and you have chance to bargain with the sellers.

    Don’t miss feasting your mouth with one of the more famous banana leaf rice in Petaling Jaya when visiting Kuala Lumpur. It’s a Raju’s place situated next to La Saelle Secondary School just off Jalan Gasing. It serve all sorts of freshly deep fried stuff to go with the rice on banana leaf accompanying with typical three vegetables and papadum. You can choose from various types of fish, squid chicken, fish roe, prawn, with other curry dishes.
    The condiments are the deep fried bitter gourd and chili padi. As for price, the standard banana leaf rice with just vegetables, papadum, and meatless curry would be around 4 or 5 ringgit. However, the bill can really add up when you add in many other side dishes. Few ringgit a piece of chicken, more than 10 for the squid andthe prawns. I’d say the price at this place is on par with other banana leaf places.

    Do not miss the 7-11 Nasi Lemak when you do visit Klang! Make sure you drop by Restaurant Southern Park, right behind the 7-11-Jalan Rengas. One of the best nasi lemak I have ever had. They have been there for more than 2 decades. If you like nasi lemak- you will go gaga over this! One serving is never enough!

    The animal show at the Lok kawi Zoo in Kota kinabalu is worth watching as it comes with the entry fee they charge. You could however donate some Ringgits if you like. The guys are great fun to watch as they play along with the animals. Well to observe a whole family of Orangutans in almost their natural surrounding, this place is fantastic. You could arrange a taxi from the city centre to take you there and wait for you until you tour the zoo and get back to town for 100 ringgits! a good deal indeed.
