Before I reached my destination, I was already curious about The Club. The namesake alone was enough to pique my interest, as it evoked a sense of exclusivity – a place reserved for the privileged few – and when I finally arrived at this Singaporean hotel, I was not disappointed.

One of Singapore’s newest hotels, The South Beach opened on the grounds of the country’s former military camp at Beach Road in September 2015, and though it is still undergoing work for its grand opening in mid-2016, it is already poised to be the most stylish establishment in the Lion City – unsurprising really, given the name behind this sophisticated sanctuary: Philippe Starck.
