Myanmar easy entry visa


Effective 1st May 2009, guests travelling to Myanmar can apply for a visa upon arrival to the country by filling up a form which will be available from all airlines flying to Myanmar. Applicants can also for their visa online prior to their arrival.

This was announced by the Directorate of Immigration and National Registration Department as an initiative that provides convenience and an alternative to pre-arranged visas.

All applicants must abide by the following visa rules and regulations.
  1. Those who apply for Visa on Arrival must have their passport and/or travel documents of which their validity is no less than (6) months.
  2. Tourist Visa fees are USD 30 for a 28-day stay in Myanmar. This visa type cannot be extended.
  3. Business Visa fees are USD 40 for a 71-day stay in Myanmar. This type of visa can be extended.
  4. Social Visit Visa fees are USD 40 for a 28-day stay in Myanmar. This type of visa can be extended.
  5. Transit Visa fees are USD 18 for 24-hour stay in Myanmar.
  6. All applicants must have a return ticket to/from Myanmar.
  7. All applicants must stay in officially-licensed hotels, motels and/or guest houses; precise names must be stated on the application form.
  8. For social or business visits, the applicant needs to mention the precise address of a relative residing in Myanmar/the office or factory he intends to visit when filling in the application form.
  9. All applicants are required to bring along two (2) passport size photos (4x6 cm) that were taken within the last 6 months.
  10. All applicants must comply with the prevailing laws and orders by all relevant authorities, as well as abide by the laws issued by the immigrant authority in Myanmar.
  11. Children under 7 years old who are travelling with their parent(s) are exempted from all visa fee charges. This also applies to children under 7 years old with separate passports.
  12. Individual visitors or tourists must have at least USD 300 CASH (or the equivalent in other currencies), and visiting families must have USD 600 CASH (or the equivalent in other currencies) as proof of sufficient travel funds.
  13. Visitors are not allowed to visit restricted areas and will be notified of these areas in advance.
  14. All visitors planning an overnight stay in Myanmar must inform the respective Township Immigration or National Registration Department of the hotel, motel, guest house or office address.

Transit Without Visa (TWOV)


With immediate effect, 120-hour TWOV for visitors from the following countries will be available at all Malaysian ports, including LCCT Kuala Lumpur.

- Bangladesh - Pakistan
- India - Sri Lanka

To qualify for TWOV, the following terms must be adhered to:
  • A valid permanent resident status from a third country or;
  • A valid long-term pass (not including a long-term visa) or;
  • A valid work permit / expatriate / student card from a third country.
AND
  • Proof of a confirmed onward flight ticket indicating onward journey within 120 hours from arrival into port of transit.
  • Visitor must depart from the same port i.e. arrive in KUL and depart from KUL (MTB or LCCT).
