Entry to Malaysia from Other Countries

Before departure and upon arrival:

  1. Travellers are required to download and activate the MySejahtera app.
  2. Complete the pre-departure form via the “Traveller” icon.
  3. Verify digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate through MySafeTravel.
  4. Fully vaccinated travellers will be issued an electronic “Digital Traveller’s Card” to be presented at the airport upon check-in.
  5. Submit address in Malaysia (for foreign travellers).
  6. Effective 1 May 2022, all fully vaccinated travellers and children aged 12 years and below are exempted from pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests.
  7. Partially or unvaccinated travellers must take an RT-PCR test 2 days before departure and a supervised RTK-Ag test within 24 hours of arrival. They will also have to quarantine for 5 days.
  8. Effective 1 May 2022, COVID-19 insurance is no longer required for all travellers entering Malaysia.

Travellers who were infected with COVID-19:

  1. Travellers must be fully vaccinated and have proof of COVID-19 infection that occurred between 6 and 60 days before departure to Malaysia.
  2. Travellers are also required to present the COVID-19 positive result either in print or digital format.

  4. Those who were not hospitalised are required to undergo a professionally administered RTK-Antigen test 2 days before departure and only travellers with a negative test are allowed to travel to Malaysia.

Entry Measures into Thailand by Air Travel

**Registration on Thailand Pass starts on 29 April 2022 (00.01 hrs Thailand Time)

From 1 May 2022, travellers entering Thailand by air will be subject to new entry measures, as follows;

1. Fully Vaccinated Persons Must:

  • Register on Thailand Pass
  • Attach required documents including passport, certificate of vaccination
  • Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only) (COVID-19 test, both prior to and after arriving in Thailand, is no longer required)

2. Fully Vaccinated Persons Must:

(Option 1 - Exemption from quarantine) travellers with a negative RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling must:

  • Register on Thailand Pass
  • Attach required documents including passport, and COVID-19 RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling (must attach on Thailand Pass only)
  • Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only) (Any COVID-19 test after arriving in Thailand is not required) PLEASE NOTE travellers who have been approved to enter Thailand under AQ scheme but wish to enter Thailand under exemption from quarantine must re-apply on Thailand Pass.

(Option 2 - Quarantine) travellers who cannot undergo an RT-PCR test result within 72 hours before traveling or wish to be quarantined must:

  • Register on Thailand Pass
  • Attach required documents including passport, Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel confirmation for 5 days (including 1 RT-PCR test)
  • Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only)
  • Undergo an RT-PCR test on Day 4 - 5 in Thailand during the mandatory 5-day quarantine at AQ hotel
  • PLEASE NOTE travellers whose Thailand Pass has already been issued can travel with the issued QR Code and do not need to register for a new Thailand Pass.

WHAT TO DO IN HO CHI MINH CITY?

Ben Thanh Market is a sprawling marketplace containing almost everything you can think of - local handicrafts, Vietnamese silks, fresh and preserved food products, a wide array of souvenirs and of course yummy Vietnamese food!

Visit HCM’s major sights - Gia Long Palace, HCM City Hall, Museum of HCM City and the Saigon Notre Dame Basilica, all within walking distance.

The must-see Saigon Central Post Office has a stark yellow exterior with an elaborate interior. You can also choose to send a few postcards back to your friends and family back home!

Day 2

Gain some insight into local lifestyles by visiting a local Fishing Village in Mui Ne. Reach there in the early morning to witness fishermen returning with their loot.

Visit the White Sand Dunes which occupy a significantly larger area than the Red Sand Dunes and look like they came straight out of a storybook. Trek up and down the dunes or relax on the sand. You may also wish to take an ATV tour of the dunes.

Being a coastal town, Mui Ne boasts a wide variety of fresh seafood to choose from. A nice seafood dinner is probably all that you need to call it a day.

Day 3

Fairy Stream, a reddish-coloured stream that runs through red sand cliffs. Often referred to as the mini ‘Grand Canyon’ of Vietnam. It is stunningly picturesque!

Rent a board at the Red Sand Dunes and try your hand at sandboarding down the dunes. Wax is rubbed onto the underside of the board, which will give you the speed to fly down the dunes!

Day 4

Maybe cafe hopping is a good idea to wrap up the trip in a relaxing way.

42 Nguyen Hue Street’s Apartment-Cafe Complex, is a nine-storey apartment block converted into a shopping arcade. With quite a war-filled history, it has fashion boutiques and designer cafes, many of which have balconies looking out onto the pedestrian street.

Things Café, which offers a serene oasis from the external chaos. The most popular seating area here is the comfortable couch (big enough for you to stretch your legs out on!) nestled against a wall mural depicting a tree.

Chocolate lovers, welcome to Maison Marou! Chocolates are specially and freshly made in-house by chefs daily and you can view the entire process behind glass windows. It has a sizable section showcasing the history of chocolates in Vietnam via its massive mural of information.

Entry Measures into Thailand by Air Travel

From 1 May 2022, travellers entering Thailand by air will be subject to new entry measures, as follows;

1. Fully Vaccinated Persons Must:

  • Register on Thailand Pass
  • Attach required documents including passport, certificate of vaccination
  • Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only) (COVID-19 test, both prior to and after arriving in Thailand, is no longer required)

2. Fully Vaccinated Persons Must:

(Option 1 - Exemption from quarantine) travellers with a negative RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling must:

  • Register on Thailand Pass
  • Attach required documents including passport, and COVID-19 RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling (must attach on Thailand Pass only)
  • Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only) (Any COVID-19 test after arriving in Thailand is not required) PLEASE NOTE travellers who have been approved to enter Thailand under AQ scheme but wish to enter Thailand under exemption from quarantine must re-apply on Thailand Pass.

(Option 2 - Quarantine) travellers who cannot undergo an RT-PCR test result within 72 hours before traveling or wish to be quarantined must:

  • Register on Thailand Pass
  • Attach required documents including passport, Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel confirmation for 5 days (including 1 RT-PCR test)
  • Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (for non-Thais only)
  • Undergo an RT-PCR test on Day 4 - 5 in Thailand during the mandatory 5-day quarantine at AQ hotel

WHAT TO DO IN VIENTIANE?

Day 1

Check out Pha That Luang which translates to “World Precious Sacred Stupa”. It's the most important Buddhist monument in Laos that's believed to enshrine a breast bone of Buddha.

Head to Patuxay Monument, Laos’ version of the Arc de Triomphe, where you can admire stunning views.

Visit Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan, meaning spirit city), which may be referred to as Wat Xieng Khuan since it contains numerous religious images.

Day 2

Enjoy a day trip to Nam Ngum Reservoir and admire the beautiful surrounding mountains and water.

Have a local lunch at a floating restaurant right on the lake and visit Ban Keun, a traditional salt extraction site.

Day 3

Motorbike around Vang Vieng and admire incredible views of dense greenery and limestone karsts in Ban Pha Tang village.

Swim in the turquoise waters of the Vang Vieng blue lagoons.

Stop to watch the sunset at Nam Xay Viewpoint which might possibly be the best way to end the day in Vang Vieng.

Day 4

Check out Kaeng Nyui Waterfall, a 30-minute drive from Vang Vieng town. It's the perfect place to cool off and drive through unspoiled nature, traditional Laotian houses, and cute farms!

Head to the cool Tham Chang Cave to escape from the heat. It's only a 20-minute walk from town, well worth the time for impressive views!

Vieng Tara is a hotel with beautiful lush rice fields. Walk through the serene fields at dusk towards the many limestone karsts in the distance.
