FAQ

If I've booked Fly-Thru, will I get 2 boarding passes when I check-in for my first flight?

Yes. Most airports will provide guests with 2 boarding passes when you check-in for your first flight at the first sector. As for your baggage, it'll be automatically tagged to your final destination*.

*) Exception for transit airports in Indonesia and Philippines, passengers from international flights with an ongoing domestic flight will still need to check out and re-check in their baggage upon arrival to continue with their domestic departure booking for their second flight.

What happens during situations of delays?

What Happens If I Miss My Connecting Flight Due to a Delay or Cancellation?

If a delay or cancellation on one flight segment causes you to miss your connecting flight (booked under a single booking number with AirAsia Fly-Thru), we’ll move you to the next available flight at no extra cost.

However, please note that Fly-Thru may no longer apply if the new connection exceeds the allowed layover window.

  • For KLIA Terminal 2 (KUL), the layover must be between 90 minutes and 18 hours for both international-to-international and domestic-to-international connections.
  • For Don Mueang (DMK), Manila (MNL), and Jakarta (CGK), the maximum layover allowed is 6 hours.

If your revised connection doesn’t meet these conditions, you’ll be eligible for a full refund or credit account, which can be used to rebook or explore other travel options.

What if a Delay or Cancellation Causes Me to Miss a Connection Booked as Separate Flights and Does Not Come with Fly-Thru?

If you’ve booked two separate point-to-point flights without the Fly-Thru service and a planned or unexpected delay causes you to miss your connection, don’t worry—we’re here to help.

Our airport ground staff will assist you in getting on the next available flight and make your journey as smooth as possible. Depending on your situation, you can choose from the following options:

  • For planned disruptions: Receive full refund or full credit account for your entire journey.
  • For unexpected (adhoc) disruptions: If you can’t board the next available flight, you may choose to:
    • Get a refund for the unused flight segment, or
    • Receive a credit account for the unused segment, or
    • Be rebooked on another available flight (which may include a longer layover).

Can I leave the departure hall once I have been checked into my next flight?

No. Please note that leaving the transit hall or departure hall is not allowed as per local regulations.

Do I need to pick up my checked-in baggage upon arriving at the transit point?

You don't need to collect your baggage at the transit point*. Your baggage will be tagged and transferred to your final destination.

*) For transits in Indonesia and the Philippines, international passengers connecting to a domestic flight will need to collect their baggage upon arrival, clear immigration, and re-check in for their next flight.

Do I need to go through the immigration check upon arriving at the transit point?

Nope, that's the beauty of Fly-Thru! You don't need to clear immigration at the transit point. However, you are not allowed to leave the transit hall or departure hall as per local regulations.
