What to see & do in Tagbilaran

Tagbilaran is the capital city of the Bohol province and is the centre of commerce and trade. The city is popularly known for its vibrant local culture especially the annual Sandugo Festival that celebrates the first treaty of friendship between the Filipinos and Spaniards. Here are some popular tourist attractions in Tagbilaran.

  1. Blood Compact Shrine

This historical landmark is located in Baragay Bool, Tagbilaran City, and commemorates the 1565 blood compact between Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Boholano chieftain Datu Sikatuna. 

  1. Baclayon Church

Built in 1595, this is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines and is located in Baclayon town, nearby Tagbilaran. 

  1. Alona Beach

This beach is located on Panglao Island and just a short drive from Tagbilaran. It is a popular destination with both locals and tourists for swimming, snorkelling and diving. 

  1. Chocolate Hills
