AirAsia and AirAsia X staff have officially moved into its new corporate base called RedQ which is short for RedQuarters. The new corporate HQ in Malaysia, situated adjacent to klia2, will house up to 2,000 AirAsia Allstars (staff).
The building was designed with Allstars in mind, prioritising cool spaces for Allstars to meet, mingle and get their creative juices flowing. Designed with an industrial aesthetic, this edgy space spans 18,000 sq metres and offers an open plan, with an atrium covered in astro turf where colourful beanbags beckon Allstars to kick up their heels – a nod to AirAsia’s casual and fun spirit – and themed meeting rooms inspired by destinations from the airline’s wide network. Meanwhile, the lounge offers spectacular views of the airline’s bright red birds taking off and landing.
Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, AirAsia Berhad’s Executive Chairman, who is the Group CEO of AirAsia X Berhad, along with Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, AirAsia X Berhad Chairman, Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia Berhad, Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X Berhad and respective board members were present to welcome all staff into the new building this morning.
The AirAsia corporate office was based based at Subang Airport in 2001, before moving to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and then to the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT), its home for 10 years.
The opening ceremony began with blessings by representatives from the country’s four major faiths reflecting the airline’s inclusive spirit. Later, Allstars heard rousing speeches from Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia; Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X; Tan Sri Dr Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia; and finally, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Executive Chairman of AirAsia and Group CEO of AirAsia X. Among the many messages conveyed that day, the most important was a reminder by Datuk Kamarudin Meranun to always remember the airline’s humble beginnings.
