AirAsia Berhad has been awarded the Industry Excellence Award
in the aviation category at the 7th ASEAN Business Awards Malaysia in recognition of AirAsia's contribution
to the aviation industry in Malaysia and across Asean.
The award was presented by the Malaysian Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to Aireen
Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad at a gala dinner held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The ASEAN Business Awards Malaysia is a platform that recognises and awards businesses that have
achieved excellence in innovation, growth, as well as practices, and that drive towards regional expansion,
with the awards being a national accreditation to the recipients of each category.
Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad said, “We would like to thank the ASEAN
Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Malaysia for recognising us as an organisation that puts the Asean
agenda at the forefront. We are very proud to be a homegrown brand, and this clearly shows that with the
right mindset, Malaysian businesses can become key players in the Asean market.”
There is a total of 19 awards that highlight exemplary organisations and individuals in four main categories;
the ASEAN Excellence Awards, Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Industry Excellence Award and the SME
Excellence Awards.
AirAsia Group operates flights to all 10 Asean countries with a total of 74 routes, which 48 of them are
exclusively operated by the airline group, including Penang - Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur - Pekanbaru, Kuala
Lumpur - Palembang, Johor Bahru - Bangkok and many more.
