Special travellers

Every traveller is special, but we go the extra mile for the extra special traveller.

Young Passenger Travelling Alone (YPTA)

Any guest under 12 years old on the day of travel are not permitted to travel as YPTA as they still require supervision and may not travel unaccompanied. A YPTA is not considered an adult and cannot accompany a guest under 12 years old.

SkyRider members that are 7 - 12 years old may fly alone using the SkyRider Young Flyer service. For more information on this service, click here.

Guests that are 12 - 16 years old are considered to be YPTA and therefore are able to fly once parent or guardian completes and signs our Release and Indemnity form for acceptance of YPTA at the check-in counter. No pre-boarding or meet and assist service is provided for the YPTA.

Guests that are 16 - 18 years old may travel without completing any forms and are treated as adults; however, they cannot accompany guests under 12 years old.

Pregnant guests

Guests who are pregnant up to 27 weeks may travel with us by completing our AirAsia/AirAsia X Liability Statement at the time of check-in.

Guests who are pregnant between 28 to 34 weeks will need to submit an approved doctor’s medical certificate confirming the number of weeks of pregnancy and that the guest is fit to travel. Certificate shall be dated not more than 30 days from the travel date. On top of this, the guests will need to complete our AirAsia/AirAsia X Liability Statement at the time of check-in.

Guests who are 35 weeks pregnant or more will not be allowed to travel with AirAsia/AirAsia X.
