AirAsia marks stronger presence in Langkawi with inaugural flight from Guangzhou, China


AirAsia further marked its presence in Langkawi with the commencement of its inaugural flight from Guangzhou, China into Langkawi this morning, which landed with a healthy 92 percent flight load.

The inaugural flight from Guangzhou was welcomed with a water salute and greeted by YAB Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia; YB Dato’ Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport of Malaysia; YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Mukhriz Mahathir, Menteri Besar of Kedah; YB Hj. Mohd Rawi bin Hj. Abdul Hamid, Kedah State Exco of Tourism & Heritage; YB Dato’ Ir. Nawawi bin Ahmad, Member of Parliament for Langkawi; YBhg Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Executive Chairman of AirAsia Berhad; YBhg Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia; and Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia Berhad.

Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia said, “We would like to thank Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak and Dato’ Seri Liow Tiong Lai for having great vision and taking proactive steps to give Langkawi the much-needed attention it deserves. Among some of the guests on-board the inaugural flight from Guangzhou include representatives from the Guangdong Tourism Authority and a group of media from Guangzhou. Members of the media will proceed to experience the island of Langkawi through a familiarization trip jointly organized by AirAsia, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), The Datai Langkawi and the Starwood Hotels Group.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, all-in-fares from as low as RM199* one way are being offered on from 25 January until 7 February 2016 for the travel period of 25 January 2016 to 2 May 2016.
