AirAsia, World’s Best Low-Cost Airline continues to inspire young talents in realising their dreams through its latest Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, #GirlsCanDoAnything Campaign.
The campaign aims to further drive women empowerment and encourage aspirations of teenage girls from an aviation perspective.
To kick-start the campaign, the airline collaborated with Teach For Malaysia by hosting 120 female students from three schools for a site visit to the Asian Aviation Centre of Excellence (AACE) located in Sepang followed by a tour of AirAsia Headquarters – RedQ. The participating schools include SMK Sungai Manggis, Banting; SMK Pandamaran Jaya, Klang and SMK Jengka Pusat, Pahang.
Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad said, “We regularly invite students and youth groups to our Academy and RedQ so that we can inspire them, and this trip is particularly special because it involves all-girls students. We hope they will be motivated to dream and dare to choose their desired career paths in any field. At AirAsia, we believe in equal opportunities regardless of gender, and this has contributed immensely towards creating an environment that encourages creativity and positions of leadership for many women. Through this initiative together with Teach For Malaysia, we hope to further boost and open up their minds as well as inspire them to chase their dreams,” added Aireen.
All the students had the opportunity to experience the flight simulators as well as other aircraft safety procedures such as emergency drills to better understand the responsibilities of the flight crew. Apart from that, female leaders of AirAsia from the engineering and flight operations department also took time to address the students and shared various tips and advice about the journey towards their chosen profession.
Dzameer Dzulkifli, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Teach For Malaysia said, “At Teach For Malaysia, we believe that all students should be #EmpoweredTo realise their potential, regardless of their background. Our Fellows teach in high-need schools across Malaysia, to be part of the solution to the challenges faced by students today. We're excited to have public and private sector partners and supporters like AirAsia working with us towards a common goal; to invest in our collective future, and create real and lasting transformation in our schools and communities."
